Benjamin Mower House

The Benjamin Mower House was built in 1825 as a private residence. Benjamin Mower and his older brother, Lyman, were both local businessmen, and the two brothers built similarly-styled homes diagonally across the Green from one another. Although Lyman’s home is larger, both of the homes that were built by the Mower brothers are Federal style buildings with parapet gables, interior end chimneys, and semi elliptical arches over the windows. The bay window on the eastern end of Benjamin’s house was a later addition.
